Hello Customers, Colleagues, and Friends,
On July 7, 2025, the White House issued an Executive Order officially postponing the effective date of the country-specific reciprocal tariffs, which were previously scheduled to take effect at 12:01 a.m. EDT on July 9. The new effective date is now August 1, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. EDT.
This latest order extends the original 90-day suspension issued in April and temporarily delays the imposition of duties under HTS subheadings 9903.01.43 through 9903.01.62 and 9903.01.64 through 9903.01.76, along with associated U.S. Note 2 subdivisions to Chapter 99 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS).
According to the Executive Order, the postponement is based on updated recommendations from senior officials and the current status of ongoing trade discussions with impacted countries.
Notably, the separate suspension of tariffs on Chinese-origin goods under Executive Order 14298 (issued May 12, 2025) remains unchanged and in effect at this time. Further updates are expected on this tariff implementation timeline.
What this means for you
- No new duties will apply on July 9 under the reciprocal tariff program for non-China origin goods
- The tariffs are now scheduled to take effect August 1, 2025, unless further postponed or modified.
- Continued monitoring of the global trade landscape to understand how your products may be effected.
Further updates expected. We will continue to monitor developments and provide timely updates as additional information becomes available. Please reach out to K&H if you have any questions regarding the recent tariff changes.
Sincerely, Your friends at Krenz and Hannan International
